Community Connectors at the Library is a partnership among participating libraries, RIFLI and The RI Coalition for the Homeless and House of Hope to bring services to people in need of: 

  • Housing applications and appeals

  • Getting benefits (SNAP, GPA, WIC, SSI/SSDI, etc.)

  • Getting insurance and finding doctors

  • Paperwork (from DHS, Social Security, etc.)

  • Accessing recovery supports

  • Connecting to community resources (soup kitchens, food banks,

  • shelters, etc.)

  • Dealing with landlord/tenant disputes

  • Legal Issues
     

Connectors are available at the following times and places:

  • East Providence, 41 Grove Avenue: Mondays 9:30am-12:30 and Tuesdays 1:00-4:00pm

  • Pawtucket, 13 Summer Street: Thursdays 1:00-4:00pm

  • Providence, 150 Empire St, Monday and Thursdays 1:00-4:00, Tuesdays 9:30am-12:30

Learning Lounges at the Libraries offer support for adults who need employment services, academic support for NEDP, GED, post secondary and job training, as well as basic computer instruction. Learning Lounges are drop-in centers with technology enabled and teacher supported services.  No appointment needed!  

Learning Lounges are open at the following locations: 

  • East Providence Weaver Library, 41 Grove Avenue: Mondays 9:30am-12:30 and Tuesdays 1:00-4:00pm
  • Pawtucket Public Library, 13 Summer Street: Thursdays 1:00-4:00pm

  • Cranston Public Library, 140 Sockanosset Cross Road,  Thursdays 2:30 - 4:30pm, Fridays 10am- 12:00

Learning Circles for ESOL

RIFLI, in collaboration with Peer 2 Peer University (https://www.p2pu.org) and World Education, will be offering Learning Circles to ESOL students who are on a wait list for class. These learning circles combine online learning with peer and teacher support.    In these weekly 90 minute sessions, learners will come together to learn online with their peers and with the support of a Learning Circle Facilitator.  The first Learning Cycle runs from November 8 – December 13, 2016.
