An overview of Year Up:
- A free one-year job training program
- Require a GED or HS diploma to apply
- For 18-24 year olds
- Three career tracks: Business Operations, Information Technology, and (newest) Healthcare Operations.
This program is a free 7 week hands-on training that prepares participants for entry level positions in the marine and composites industries in RI. We have had a great job placement success rate at the end of each our trainings.
No previous marine experience is necessary, but we are looking for hands-on learners ready to be trained and employed on new skills including carpentry, mechanics, varnishing and composites.
Service offered to New England Farm Workers Council Clients:
Employment and Training Counseling, Job placement assistance, including
- On the Job Training
- Work Experience or Subsidized Employment
- Financial Assistance with Occupational Skills Training
- Referrals to other agencies for Basic Skills Trainings (like ESL, GED, and Job)

We are pleased to announce three upcoming workforce development programs...Starting on June 6, we are offering Intro to IT Security, Legal Assistant and Professional Office Skills trainings. These 8-week courses are free for those participating in the DHS RI Works program or who are eligible for benefits through the Department of Labor & Training. Clients who are unemployed or underemployed but are not currently participating in the RI Works program may still be eligible to participate.
