CASAS

About

"CASAS is a nonprofit organization that provides assessments of basic skills for youth and adults and curricular tools to target instruction. CASAS is used by federal and state government agencies, business and industry, community colleges, education and training providers, correctional facilities, and technical programs."   ---CASAS Website

RIRAL uses the CASAS test for several reasons:

  • to measure how much student have learned from the beginning of the semester to the end
  • to place students into class for next semester
  • to help determine if students are ready for the GED, NEDP, or job training program

Test results are reported to the state as a requirement for receiving state and federal funding - it's one of the things that keeps our teachers paid and classes free for our students!
